MAGMA wide low

Cork coffee table by DAM

With a unique beauty, the MAGMA small marble table is composed of a semi-sphere of agglomerated dark cork that evokes the earth’s crust. The stone table top refers to the molten and semi-molten mineral substances found under the Earth’s crust. This surface portrays a peculiar narrative about the beauty of our planet, dynamic yet deeply fragile, highlighting what is important to care for and preserve – Nature.

Materials & Finishings

100% natural agglomerated black cork and Portuguese marble (‘Pele de tigre’) or Portuguese limestone (‘Aplinina’ or ‘Rosa Negrais’). Finishings: Cork finished with colourless aqueous coating with properties of water repellency, oil, and stains and high resistance to UV and aging.

More about the cork of Magma

It is only used cork of the branches (falca) for the manufacture of cork granules. These are block clusters in an autoclave, being 100% natural process, without the use of additives. The technology consists of injecting water vapour through the pellets that will expand and agglutinate with the resins of the cork itself. This “cooking” gives also a dark colour to the agglomerated cork, like chocolate. In the production of steam is used biomass what makes it truly ecological production and without waste, 95% energy self-sufficient. This material offers so many advantages, because in addition to being an excellent thermic, acoustic insulation and antivibration, is also a CO2 sink playing a key role in the environment.

Important details

Nature is perfect with all the natural imperfections. So differences of colour and tonality can happen due to common changes in the natural materials. Few cork granules may be released as time goes by due to the natural characteristics of the cork. The product is handmade so final dimensions may vary slightly. All these changes and variations are not considered defects.
